Travel Tuesday Train Wreck

OK, so it’s not quite a train wreck, per se, it’s just total and utter crappola.
I’ve been working on my latest travel post that’s supposed to be posted today for a couple days now, but it’s just shite. It doesn’t have that oomph, that pizzaz (or pizza, as my phone really wanted me to say).
Between my regular full time gig, my side hustle, trip planning, trying to keep up with the bare minimum in household duties, and a few scheduled naps here and there, tapping into the writing passion that usually makes the magic (or poop, depending on who you ask) happen has been tough.
So, I’m sorry to disappoint you, folks (I know you’ve all been waiting with bated breath), but my Travel Tuesday post is going to be a Travel Wednesday post this week. I know that doesn’t have the same ring to it, but it is what it is, que sera, sera and all that.
Until then, here’s an image that will give you a possible idea of what my travel post will be about (can you guess?):

In the comments, tell me where you’ve always wanted to travel to, because I totally need another reason to be distracted!

  1. I don’t think there is enough space to list all the places that I want to travel to. I would love to go to Australia someday. But, since I am here in Germany now, I really should focus on seeing everything here! By the way, have you bought your ticket to visit me in Koln yet??
Oh, and how about Wednesday Wayfaring? Or Wednesday Wanders? Just some thoughts 🙂

    1. How many places in Europe have you seen? I’m SO jealous that you’re located in Europe, because you’re so “close” to so many amazing things!! I REALLY wish I could come see you in Germany!! I really need to get over there again and see some other countries!
      I love Wednesday Wanders! ❤️❤️

      1. I haven’t been many places outside of Germany….yet. We have been focused on making the tattoo shop successful (it’s doing really well) and I am still going through the immigration process (so no working for me). Next year will bring more travels for sure!

          1. Seriously, it’s the mundane aspects of life in another country and culture that really interest me! I got a Snack Crate before I canceled all of my subscriptions that was from Germany and the candy was AWESOME ❤️😋😋

  2. I used to love the idea of travel, but as I’ve gotten older, it’s hard just opening the front door sometimes. Don’t know how that happened, but I’ve done a complete 180 when it comes to traveling. I just get anxious when I can’t sleep in my own bed.
With that said, I think if I could ever get beyond this mindset, I’d love to visit London, but I’d also love to see Jerusalem and the surrounding area. Maybe a day or two at the Acropolis, and definitely some time at the Hagia Sophia. Spending so much time talking about the ancient world, I’d love to actually set foot in the sands that I’ve been waxing poetically about for these last few years . . .

    1. You can’t be “old”, but I totally get it! The last time I went on a big trip I was 10 years younger. This time around I’ve got prescription medicine, a bad back, and some more hesitation, but I refuse to let my age stop me. Besides, I’m “only” 35. Another reason I need to get in better shape, because I feel older than 35.
I’d LOVE to go to Jerusalem. In fact, I have a HUGE fascination with the Middle East, in general! Great wanderlist!!

  3. Italy. I’d eat my way from top to bottom only stopping to gaze fondly at art on the way to Sicily where I’d lie on a beach chair, 20lbs heavier and happy while sipping a glass of wine!

  4. My dream trip was Ecuador which was cancelled for health reasons, so I have to stay in the states. As much as I’ve dreamed of Australia. I guess I’d like to see New York and Indiana.

  5. Morocco is on the top of my list of places to go, then a tour through Europe. I have one picked out already and could have totally gone with my tax refund this year but I decided to be “responsible” (aka boring) and put that money to other things like student debt…

      1. I agree doooo it! The mountains in Morocco were amazing, plus it was all pretty cheap.
Having said that, Morocco is one of my least favorite places. If you don’t like haggling/being hassled then it can be a stressful place to visit in the big cities. I still had fun, but it really stressed me out.

        1. I saw how much haggling Karl Pilkington got in Egypt, so I can only imagine how annoying that has to be.
If only you could take the negative aspects of a place out of the equation.

          1. The thing was, the places that have less tourists (like the atlas mountains) were sooooo nice! The touristy places are just really keen to rip people off, which made me sad.

  6. I’ve been lucky to have been to several parts of Europe and spent a college semester in England (in Isaac Newton’s hometown, of all places), so there are lots of places I’d like to go back to, and lots of places I’ve never been that I’d like to visit. Top of the list: Sri Lanka. It started a million years ago when I heard that Arthur C. Clarke lived in Sri Lanka. It was so far away that he had to communicate with some people by computer, and I thought, wow, I wonder if someday I’ll be able to talk to people around the world by computer.
I’m pretty sure that was the same year I asked for an Apple for Christmas and my father said, “Hell, I’ll buy you a whole bushel,” but that’s another story.
I had no clue where that was but it just sounded amazingly cool, and it actually led me to learn a lot about the island’s rich and often sad history.
Also Suriname. I can’t explain why but it seems like a place no one ever thinks of visiting. Sometimes the most neglected places have the nicest surprises.

    1. LOL @ the bushel of apples 😂 Sri Lanka would be awesome! I often find where I want to go stems a lot from literature I read that is based there or written by authors from that part of the world. I’ve always been really into the Czech Republic after reading The Twelve Little Cakes 🎂 ❤️

      1. That’s funny–I’ve been to Czechoslovakia (1988, before the split), and my maternal grandparents were from there, and yet I’ve never heard of The Twelve Little Cakes.
Adding that one to my reading list. 🙂

    2. My wife lived in Sri Lanka when she was in junior high. She’s always saying she wants to take me to show me where she lived. Although, she’s sure it would be a totally different place by now. It’s been almost 30 years.

  7. I wish I was managing the bare minimum in household duties…sadly failing here (it’s tipping it down and dark and I still haven’t even locked up the chickens). I’d love to travel far, far away. My last big holiday was Thailand on honeymoon and since then holidays (when they happen) have been restricted to long weekends around Europe and to different beaches in france…which are still amazing. Somewhere exotic would be nice though!

  8. You are way too hard on yourself!
If it makes you feel better, I had a post written, all I needed to do was re-read it for errors and press publish and it STILL took me a whole week to get around to it.
I’d LOVE to go to Korea (eat everything and climb some mountains) and Tibet (for the same reason!) I have a whole list of places in Europe that I want to go to (Estonia, Croatia, Sweden, Norway, more Portugal, Turkey…) Plus I keep following exciting travel bloggers and seeing more places that I’d love to experience. That doesn’t include the places I’ve been to already that stole my heart and made me want to go back!
Plus I need to come to the USA to see you.

    1. I really do put a lot of pressure on myself to post. I really should give myself a week off.
All of those places sound AMAZING. I especially love the part where you need to come to the US to see meeeeee!! Have you ever been to the US?

      1. Yes, but I was 15, so I don’t know if that counts!!
I mostly want to visit US national parks and eat all the yummy sounding food.

  9. Right now, my top travel choice is Ireland. ALL. THAT. GREEN. California has been in a drought for the last trillion millennia or so, so I just got brown as far as the eye can see. Which sounds like a poop joke, but isn’t, I swear.

    1. That sucks that’s it’s so brown where you are!! I live close to the California border, near Auburn. It’s SOOOO green! It’s a nice change from what I get to see everyday.
I’m SO excited to be seeing Ireland again! The green is almost unbelievable!

      1. Yea I’m in San Diego and if we see any green, we just go, “Someone isn’t following the water restriction guidelines.” Because it is impossible to follow them and still have shit other than cacti and succulents grow. I am verrrry over living in the desert lol!

  10. I’ve lived in China for the last year and a half and am moving to Vietnam in three weeks. From there I hope to see Thailand, Cambodia, Laos and the other countries in that area. I’m excited to get there.
One day, I hope to make it to Sweden. I really love the idea of seeing it, but I hate cold weather so I will have to plan accordingly.

  11. IF I could convince myself to board an aircraft, I’d visit Egypt. Seeing how that’s not going to happen, my ‘alternate’ travel plans would be to see the ocean. Either of them would do. \
I think it’d be fun to run the length of the US by train. Might have to look into that again this year, before deciding it’s too damned expensive and put it back in the bucket list.

  12. I feel old! Because I don’t think of travel in global terms any longer. But . . if I were to stretch me old legs . . Japan. To immerse myself in the martial arts and meditation. And sushi . . . and sake . .

          1. I always feel so inadequate when I can’t come back with a multiple emoji reply. Aw damn . . . I’m too old!
Oh no, wait . . that’s how this comment thread started!

  13. Haha. Here’s another distracting comment for you then. I’ve always wanted to go to Iceland. The land of fire and ice! And Italy. And China. And safari in Africa. And anywhere really. Please.

  14. My friend used to have this stack of tour brochure/magazines from his travel agent, and the one I really really wanted to do was the month-long tour of Africa. There was a whole variety of experiences included along the way, and it just seemed like a great way to get a full sampling of a beautiful and diverse continent.

      1. I hadn’t really thought of it much, even when I lived over that side of the world, until I saw Stig Rästa on Eurovision a few years back lol. Then I got fascinated and started studying the language a bit…

  15. Without a doubt–Ireland. But, for some reason, I want to tour Eastern Europe, too. If travel was free, though, I don’t think I’d be too picky. I’ll go wherever if it’s all free.
